This year’s Earth Day Celebration at ECO Farm was buzzing with activity and helping hands! Families and visitors of all ages stopped by to partake in fun activities, enjoy the fresh air and warm sunshine, and take home some farm-grown produce and plants.

Together with a group of hardworking volunteers, we were able to transplant 12 young willow and cottonwood trees around the farm. These saplings were removed from other areas of the property to better serve the farm’s needs; they will now grow into a wall of mature trees in the future that will act as a natural barrier during floods, stopping debris from damaging structures and absorbing more water into the ground.
Visitors were able to explore the farm, tour our gardens, greenhouse, and large-scale compost operation, and learn about regenerative farming practices we have in place at ECO. Guests were also able to visit our wonderful farm goats and chickens - we welcomed 30 Rhode Island Red chicks to ECO Farm right in time for Earth Day!

ECO Farm had a variety of farm-fresh veggies grown in our greenhouse and eggs for sale, as well as plant starts for people to take home, including several types of trees - cottonwood, willow, and date - and other garden favorites like marigolds, lavender, and sage.
Visitors were invited to plant seeds in our new pollinator beds in our market garden, as well as start their own grow kits from a variety of seeds saved at the farm using repurposed containers. This simple but fun activity is another way we can cultivate our mission to educate and empower our communities to grow healthy food, nourishing our environment, minds, and bodies.
We are so grateful to all the volunteers and community members who visited ECO Farm’s Earth Day Celebration this year - a special thanks to Spring with Volunteer Sedona & The Verde Valley, Stacia with Love Cottonwood, and Damien and his team from Steps to Recovery for their support and partnership with us to in serving the Verde Valley.
